(AP) ? Greece's general government debt is projected to stand at 189.1 percent of gross domestic product in 2013, figures in next year's revised budget show.

The budget submitted to Parliament on Wednesday shows the general government deficit is predicted at 5.2 percent of GDP, compared with 4.2 percent predicted in the preliminary draft of the budget that had been submitted at the start of the month.

Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras submitted the revised figures just before lawmakers began voting on a privatization bill that will test the country's fractious governing coalition.

Meredith Miller turns focus to breast cancer awareness as she ...

Meredith Miller, recovering from a hand injury sustained at day 2 of the Providence Cyclocross Festival (shown here on day 1), has turned her focus to breast cancer awareness. Photo: Wil Matthews | www. wilmatthewsphoto.com

On October 7, with two laps to go at day 2 of the Providence Cyclocross Festival in Providence, Rhode Island, Meredith Miller felt strong and in control. With five top-six performances in her 2012 ?cross season, she felt confident and ready to execute her race plan.

Instead, a crash and two broken metacarpal bones in one hand ended her day. It did not, however, end her season.

The California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized rider may be sidelined now, but her ?cross season is far from over. She told VeloNews Friday afternoon that she still has her sights on securing one of five spots for February?s world championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

After consulting with several doctors and visiting the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine in Colorado, Miller decided to undergo surgery for the spiral fractures in her right hand. Her checkup on November 18 will, she hopes, confirm her return to competition.

In the meantime, she stays fit by riding indoors, while at the same time raising money for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month through her team?s ?Pretty in Pink? campaign. Miller began wearing pink while racing cyclocross? in 2010, but has since developed the campaign even further.

?Wearing pink is great, but I felt like I was taking the easy way out,? Miller said. ?I wanted to do more.?

To date, Miller has raised $15,000 over the past two years for Hope Lives, a breast cancer awareness center in Fort Collins, Colorado. She aims to raise $10,000 this year alone. By selling socks, T-shirts, and bike jerseys emblazoned with the slogan, ?Pink is the new fast,? Miller is already approaching that goal.

She has also drawn attention and support for the campaign through an online raffle featuring her new ?cross bike, a SRAM-equipped Specialized S-Works Crux with Zipp wheels.

The entire Cal Giant cyclocross team ? whose men?s squad includes junior racer Yannick Eckmann; under-23 rider Cody Kaiser; Tobin Ortenbald, second this year at the national junior cross-country championships; and masters rider Justin Robinson ? is racing in pink this season to raise breast cancer awareness.

Miller aims to rejoin her teammates at races in California and Oregon in early December, race in World Cups in Europe over Christmas weekend, and contest the national championships in January. Racing during the holidays was not what Miller had envisioned for her season, but she said that, once healthy, she will do what?s needed to qualify for her fourth worlds team.

?It is a big deal having worlds in the States this year,? Miller said.

Galactic snack time: Stream of stars slowly being ingested by the Milky Way

ScienceDaily (Oct. 25, 2012) ? Using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, researchers have discovered a band, or stream, of stars believed to be the remnant of an ancient star cluster slowly being ingested by the Milky Way, Earth's home galaxy.

"The Milky Way is constantly gobbling up small galaxies and star clusters," said Ana Bonaca, a Yale graduate student and lead author of a study forthcoming in Astrophysical Journal Letters. "The more powerful gravity of our Milky Way pulls these objects apart and their stars then become part of the Milky Way itself."

Researchers have previously found evidence of the Milky Way eating up dwarf galaxies. Bonaca argues that the newly found stellar stream is the remnant of a star cluster rather than of a larger galaxy, because the stream is very narrow.

"Our discovery is more of a light snack than a big meal for the Milky Way," says Marla Geha, associate professor of astronomy at Yale and a co-author of the study. "Studying this digestion process in detail is important because it gives us new insight into how all galaxies form and evolve."

The new band of stars, or stellar stream, it is the first of its kind found in the southern Galactic sky, a region that has been hard to examine due to a relative lack of deep-sky imaging there. Deeper imaging enables astronomers to detect fainter stars.

Named the Triangulum stream, the newly discovered stellar stream could also help astronomers reconstruct how the Milky Way's mass is distributed, further revealing its dynamic structure.

Galaxies are believed to form hierarchically through the merger of smaller galaxies and still smaller star clusters. Stellar streams form as they are ripped apart by the gravitational force of galaxies. This process may be the primary way galaxies such as the Milky Way grow in mass, the researchers say.

Triangulum was found by searching a region recently surveyed by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III (SDSS-III), an international collaboration that is mapping the sky through wide-field photometry.

Bonaca, Geha and co-author Nitya Kallivayalil, a Yale postdoctoral fellow, relied specifically on the survey's Data Release 8, which included information about vast new areas of the southern galactic sky.

Research support was provided by the National Science Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Samsung Wireless Audio Dock (DA-E750)

Few speaker systems have illicited as many "oohs" and "aahs" as the Samsung Wireless Audio Dock (DA-E750) has. To be fair, there's a lot to like: dual dock connectors for Samsung and Apple devices; wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth, AirPlay, or AllShare; and two nifty-looking vacuum tubes that emit a soft orange glow beneath a glass cover on the top panel. But now come the "ughs": It'll cost you $699.99 (list), can be pesky to set up, and suffers from occasional distortion at top volumes. At moderate volumes, however, the DA-E750 offers solid audio performance?and did we mention that it's beautiful?

Drop-Dead Gorgeous Design
Measuring 5.8 by 17.7 by 9.5-inches and weighing in at a healthy 18.9 pounds, the DA-E750 is not a subtle piece of gear. This has less to do with its dimensions and more to do with its polished wood exterior, and, of course, two vacuum tubes glowing beneath a raised glass cover on the top of the system.

On the right side of the top panel, there's a circular, metallic control pad for volume, play/pause, and there's a multi-purpose Function button. The seemingly non-transparent metallic circle also displays basic information through an LED display in the center of the circle, signaling when connecting to Wi-Fi networks or switching audio sources.

The docking area is located at the top of the rear panel, and features an adjustable arm for your devices to gently lean back against?they appear to almost float just beyond the edge of the top panel. It features a 30-pin connector for Apple iOS devices (not including the iPhone 5, which uses Apple's new Lightning Connector), as well as a microUSB plug for Android devices.?Most Android devices can use the connector as a dock for power over microUSB, but audio doesn't stream through the USB connection. Samsung offers an app that automatically triggers Bluetooth streaming when you dock a Samsung Galaxy device on the company's list, like the Galaxy S II and S II LTE?. The Galaxy S III? worked fine, and if a device doesn't run the app, you can simply manually pair it like any Bluetooth device.

On the front panel, we have four drivers: two 0.8-inch tweeters and two 4-inch mid-range drivers that bring a combined 40 watts of power. There is no speaker grille covering these menacing-looking creatures, and it's a handsome look, indeed. Throw in the aforementioned glowing tubes, and this could be James Bond's stereo. A down-firing 60-watt subwoofer rounds out the 2.1 audio array.

The back panel houses a connection for the included power cable, a LAN connection (an Ethernet cable is included), a 3.5mm Aux input (an audio cable is also included), a USB port (you can play music directly from USB drives), and a WPS/Reset pinhole button that is used during Wi-Fi set-up.

Samsung E750 RemoteThe included remote is also sexy?and why not? Who wants to pay $700 for a speaker system with a cheap-feeling remote control? (The similarly priced, otherwise-excellent Paradigm Millenia CT comes with a flimsy remote, so it's worth noting.) The slick metallic remote has buttons for Power, Track Forward/Backward Play/Pause, Volume, Mute, and Bass (it's a boost button that switches either on or off, it's not adjustable). There's also a Function button that allows for more in-depth controls, including switching audio sources or playback of a TV through your system.

Now, about those tubes. It's my job to be skeptical. Vacuum tubes are typically used in high-end audio gear to provide the warm, analog sound audiophiles crave. But let's not forget that they look really cool, and looking cool can add a lot more to a price tag. When you see that there are two orange LEDs glowing beneath each tube to enhance their color, skepticism only grows. To know just what kind of effect these tubes actually have on the audio, we'd have to take the system apart and look at where they are placed in the audio chain. Their effect on the output is, as things stand, rather hard to gauge.

So, instead, we'll just judge the DA-E750 the way we judge everything else?on its overall audio performance, regardless of what role the tubes may or may not play. The good news is: It sounds quite good.

Office Market Recovery Continues In Third Quarter Despite Election ...

Occupancy, Absorption Levels Hold Serve as Market Indicators Find Recovery Continuing at Slow but Steady Pace

Demand for office space in the U.S. held steady in the third quarter as leasing activity and absorption of available office space continued to pick up momentum following a lackluster start at the beginning of 2012, CoStar Group reported this week in the company's Third-Quarter 2012 Office Review & Outlook.

The overall U.S. office vacancy rate edged down and net absorption rose to 15 million square feet during the quarter from 13 million square feet at mid-year 2012. The relatively little new office supply and continued low levels of new office construction supported the balance in supply and demand.

Meanwhile, office tenants continued to enjoy a 'holiday' from rent increases as office rents in most market have yet to budge much from their market trough tipping point, according to analysts for Property and Portfolio Research (PPR), CoStar?s analytics and forecasting division.

"The recovery is only one-third of the way there in the office sector, we still have two-thirds to go," said Walter Page, PPR director of research, office, who was joined by PPR's Managing Director Hans Nordby and Manager, U.S. Market Research Aaron Jodka, in dissecting the third-quarter numbers for CoStar clients.

If there was a surprise for the quarter it was on the upside. Page said he had expected demand to fall off a bit in the quarter, based on anecdotal reports of companies postponing hiring and expansion decisions due to economic and political uncertainties created by this fall?s hotly contested presidential election and the unresolved budget impasse.

"But it held up, and we expect it to continue to hold," Page said, buoyed by the improvement in job growth over the last couple of months.

CoStar expects leasing activity to exceed 135 million square feet nationally for the third quarter, eclipsing the 130 million square feet of office space leased during the second quarter.

"We've started to see pretty good leasing momentum," Jodka said. "It was a weak first quarter, but we've started to see more decision-making by tenants -- not at the rate we would have expected if it were not an election year or if the economy were performing better -- but we're seeing office-using job growth translate into leasing decisions and momentum , and that's a good sign."

Energy industry driven metros such as Houston, Dallas and Denver, and even previously challenged growth markets such as Atlanta, have posted solid gains in leasing and absorption, both in the third quarter and year to date, fueled by growth in law firms, consulting, insurance and other typical downtown tenant, Jodka noted.

On the other end, consolidation among pharmaceutical companies and other office tenant downsizings have dampened demand in Northern New Jersey. Absorption remains soft in Los Angeles outside the submarkets dominated by media and entertainment companies.

Companies Continue to Pursue Modest Office Hiring

While U.S. GDP slowed to 1.3% in the third quarter from 1.7% in the prior quarter -- hardly the kind of growth arithmetic that induces companies to hire more workers -- office-occupying jobs continued to increase on a year-over-year basis at a faster clip than the national average, Nordby said.

"We're expecting office-using employment to be about 30% better than the overall average in employment. If you believe there's a recovery, then you like the office sector," Nordby said.

Although the U.S. office vacancy rate edged down to 12.6% in the third quarter and is down just half a percentage point from a year ago, PPR continues to expect the vacancy rate to fall another 1.8% through 2016 as supply diminishes and the economy rebounds, by far the steepest drop among commercial property types.

For now, two main factors are constraining office demand. The average amount of office space leased by tenants has shrunk 21% over the last 10 years in a fundamental shift in the way companies use office space due to a variety of factors, including the economic downturn, and the rise of telecommuting and smaller, more collaborative work spaces. Secondly, tenants are still expanding into leased but under-utilized space resulting from layoffs during the recession.

Meanwhile, office tenants that have been active in the market are upgrading their space at the current lower rents. About 70% of net absorption has been in top-tier, 4-Star and 5-Star buildings. However, PPR expects absorption to shift to the middle and lower of the market, similar to the mid-2000s recovery, as the choicest buildings fill up.

Page also pointed out that office demand is improving in metros hurt by the housing crisis, such as Atlanta and Phoenix, with housing clearly less of a drag on their local economies than in previous years. Even in Orange County, where the subprime mortgage collapse caused the office market to crater, mortgage lenders are once again beginning to lease large block of space, Jodka said.

Office Construction Beginning to Stir

Although there?s very little new supply of office space coming on line -- the nation actually removed more space from the inventory than it added in 2011 -- construction of a few new projects totaling 14 million square feet has started in the last two quarters. Most of the new office construction consists of build-to-suit buildings for medical or pharmacautical tenants such as PNC?s 800,000-square-foot headquarters building in Pittsburgh.

However, office construction is becoming a bigger story in a few markets such as San Jose, CA; Boston, Washington, DC, Houston, New York City, Austin and Charlotte, NC. Although up to 85% of the space is preleased in some markets such as Boston, speculative projects have been a higher percentage of total construction in San Jose, DC, Austin and Charlotte.

"We expect that sluggish phenomenon to continue over the next several years until the economy really gets going and profits start to translate into employees and uncertainty starts to wind down," Jodka said.

While the office sector had the greatest increases in vacancy and has not recovered as fast, its recovery probably has more legs going forward because of the lack of construction, Page said.

U.S. Patent Office Invalidates Apple Patent Used in - Geekosystem

These days, patents are used more in legal posturing than just about anything else. It goes to show just how?ludicrous?the system is, however, that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has filed an invalidation for Apple?s U.S. Patent No. 7,469,381. All 20 claims of Apple?s rubber-banding patent are now officially on their way to being thrown out. This includes the same claim 19 that was used against Samsung in the company?s recent high-profile trial.

In the end, the jury ruled that Samsung owed Apple $1.049 billion for copying the design of the iPhone, but this non-final decision from the USPTO could see the ruling receive new scrutiny. Samsung?s already filed a motion to have the judge consider exactly that. That doesn?t necessarily mean it?s going to stick, however.

The reexamination rejected claim 19 based on anticipation by two prior patents. That means that, essentially, the examiner concluded that there was literally nothing inventive about Apple?s claim that wasn?t already represented previously. Not only would Apple have to convince the USPTO that their claim was something new in order to refute the decision, they?d have to prove that it was a significant enough step away from the original to justify the patent being awarded at all.

Given that this is a non-final decision, Apple will surely put forth all of its legal might to see their side through to the end. They?re not done fighting just yet. There?s still a ways to go yet before the patent is thrown out, but it surely will help weigh things in Samsung?s favor for the time being.

Texas lawmaker wants hearing over vet deaths

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? A Texas congressman is calling for hearings in response to a newspaper report that an alarming number of Texas veterans of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have died of prescription drug overdoses.

U.S. Rep. Bill Flores, a Bryan Republican on the U.S. House Committee on Veterans Affairs, says the overdose issue "bothers me a lot." Flores tells the Austin American-Statesman that he will ask for a hearing to get the Veterans Administration's response to the overdoses and the latest research on post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Statesman reported last month that a newspaper investigation found the number of suicides among Texas veterans is nearly matched by the number of those dying from prescription drug overdoses.

There is also concern over how well the VA is tracking deaths among veterans.

Washington Nationals: 4 Reasons Fans Should Look Forward to the 2013 Season

The Nationals? motto this offseason: ?Out with the old; in with the new.?

They?re clearing out unproductive veterans and maintaining the core that propelled them to a playoff berth in 2012.

With the exception of Adam LaRoche, the Nationals will have all their starters back for 2013, including recently acquired catcher Kurt Suzuki.

LaRoche, who hit .271 with 33 home runs and 100 RBI, will most likely not be returning to Washington next season. He has an option for 2013 in his contract that management is hesitant to pick up.

?He's a great player, but I think a better teammate and a great leader in here,? said Nationals? third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. ?I think all of us would love to have him back."

This is a guy the Nats need in uniform next season. The 32-year-old veteran is widely respected in a youthful clubhouse, and has been an offensive leader on the field for this team.

Defensively, the Nationals had the second best pitching in baseball last season. In 2013 they?ll be returning four of their five starting pitchers.

Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann, Ross Detwiler and a healthy Stephen Strasburg will make up next year?s rotation. All four pitchers had ERAs under four.

Edwin Jackson, who?s been with eight different franchises since coming into the league in ?03, seems to be on the move once again.

He?ll likely be replaced with the 28-year-old left-hander John Lannan in the fifth slot in the rotation. Lannan pitched well in place of Strasburg at the end of the season, posting a 4-1 record with a 4.13 ERA in 32.2 innings pitched.

The bullpen will be maintaining its core as well. Closer Drew Storen, set-up man Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen will be back in 2013.

Mike Gonzalez, the injury-prone Brad Lidge and Chien-Ming Wang's contracts are up and they will be exiting Washington this offseason.

Sean Burnett, an important piece of this bullpen, has a $3.5 million dollar option for 2013 of which he?s deserving.

Burnett, used primarily in late innings as a lefty specialist, had a great year, posting a 2.38 ERA with 58 strikeouts.

With washed-up veterans exiting the bullpen, the rotation?s core remaining intact and the talent returning on offense, this should, once again, be an exciting team to watch in 2013.

Autism Pirate: You can't, or you are not able?

There's a difference between saying "I can't do that" and "I am not able." 20 years ago, I, like a lot of people, rolled my eyes at being "politically correct". Having a son with a disability has changed that. We don't say "colored" people. As a friend of mine once said, "we aren't a rainbow, we're black." We don't say "retarded" because, well, it's offensive and in most cases inaccurate. We don't say handicapped because it places emphasis on their disability. And I know Tara and I have beaten this dead horse, but we don't say "that child is autistic," we say they have autism. The reason to be "politically correct" is to place importance on the fact that people are people, first. Whatever diagnosis they might have, whatever their skin color, whatever their religious beliefs are and so on, should ALWAYS be secondary to WHO they are. If you have a friend battling cancer, you never say "my cancerous friend," you always say "my friend with cancer," if you even get to that within your first sentence of talking about them.? Ok, so enough about that soapbox and onto my point.

I ran a half marathon today. When we think about people who run marathons and even 5 and 10k's, we think of health nuts who are fitness over-achievers. But as I looked around today, there were people running and walking the half and full marathon who did NOT fit that stereotype. There were only people. Skinny people, overweight people, yes, those health nuts, older generations, a man with one arm, people running because it was their birthday, brides from the night before and young people.? People who simply said, "I can do this and I don't necessarily care what my time is, if I have to walk it, crawl it or be helped across the finish line." And yes, to my point, there are people who are unable to do it. THAT'S the difference. "I can't" usually means "I don't really want to", which is fine of course, but don't SAY "I can't" just say "I don't want to."

For many people with disabilities, they are unable to run a marathon, although given the chance, most of them would love the opportunity to do so. It's part of the reason I do run. I had a friend once who was fit, healthy, didn't abuse her body and took pride in the fact that she led that kind of lifestyle. And yet she lost her battle to cancer. I started running because I thought, she, more than anyone, would give ANYTHING to be able to go for a run.? So I did it for her. Do I like to run?? Not really. But it has become an easy form of exercise and a way for me to demonstrate that if you are able, you should.

Having a kid on the Autism Spectrum has made me realize even more, that there are things he is and will be unable to do.? And also, that there are many things he can do. He may very well be able to walk a tight rope one of these days. And he most likely will be unable to run a company as CEO. The difference between "can't" and "unable." ?

There were people on the marathon today who were unable to finish because of injury or it was too much of an effort for their body. There were also people with determination, even with a disability that didn't affect their legs, that WERE able to run it and finish. I hadn't really trained for this run for various reasons including injuries myself, and at about mile 7 the pain kicked in to epic proportions. I winced with every stride, the sweat was more from pain that cardio and I wanted to quit. My feet hurt due to plantar fasciitis,?my knees were killing me because of a weak IT band, my hips hurt probably due to deferred pain from my knees and I had stabbing muscle spasms in my upper shoulder.? Needless to say, it wasn't a fun race. But I kept telling myself that I was able to finish. I kept reminding myself, as I ALWAYS do in races, that there are things my son with autism won't be able to do and i AM able to do this, so i do. It proves to him, even though he wasn't there, that when he wants to give up in Math, when he wants to walk away from kids who aren't being nice, when he wants to abandon reciting his sight words, that he is able. And one of these days, probably soon, I will not be able to run a half marathon. And one of these days, my son will not be able to do something he wants to. And when that day comes, we will both be scorning the people who can.

Internet Marketing Rules Blog: Creating Value When Selling Online

When it comes to selling online, you have to create value. Selling is all about creating value, and then dropping the perceived price of the product so low that the chasm between the 2 is irresistible. If you can do this online, you can set yourself up to get tons of sales in your internet business effortlessly.

Depending on what you sell, you should know that ?bulk? equates to value. Some people online will say that they?ve read books that were around 20 pages long and it was better than the product that was 200 pages long. However, if you want to minimize refunds, create more perceived value by making your books or ebooks around 100 pages long.

It is what it is. This is what you have to do sometimes to get a sale, especially if you?re pricing the product considerably high. The industry of ?information products? is an industry that applies here also. You could easily create a 200-page manual, 5 CD?s, 5 DVD?s, and a few bonuses - and sell it for $300 or more.

And the cost to reproduce and create this package would probably only cost you around $40.

Do you see the profit margins here? This is why so many people like selling information products online instead of selling tangible items. But as with anything in life, selling tangible items and selling information products both have their pros and cons. You should just be aware that value needs to be created when selling both kinds of products.

If you want to create alot of value with your products online, consider the idea of ?bundling?. Include alot of freebies and valuable things that will make your offer seem irresistible. This is a cool trick that works every time, and you should know that you can make it happen for you.

So instead of just offering one product, offer the 1 product and create incredible value by adding alot of freebies. So if you were selling the Xbox 360, instead of just offering the console, include a few games, a USB cable, an HDMI cable, 2 wireless controllers, and so on. This kind of bundle would sell immediately (especially if you put it up on Ebay for sale).

But even if you didn?t put it up on Ebay to sell, you can still make money with it via your website. Just make an attractive looking website, put your product on there, and start marketing it to the world. It?s a hot item, and if you can make people feel safe and secure from ordering from you? you shouldn?t have a problem selling this product fast.

Creating value is very important to do online, as it can net you a ton of sales simply and easily without you working hard to get them. You could also offer one package on your website for a good core offer, and then offer a ?deluxe? package for around $50-$100 more that includes more relevant products for your customers to buy.

These tips for bundling your products and creating value can make you alot of money online. It isn?t hard to have internet marketing success? you just have to keep at it everyday if you want to have the kind of online business success that you are looking for. So don?t take it lightly.

Good luck with earning more money in your online business today.

Florida college band member gets probation in hazing death

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - A former Florida A&M University band member was sentenced on Monday to six months of house arrest and two years of probation in the hazing death of college drum major Robert Champion, who was fatally beaten during a marching band ritual last fall.

Judge Marc Lubet also ordered Brian Jones, 23, to complete 200 hours of community service and a four-hour hazing class. The judge withheld adjudication, meaning Jones will not have a felony conviction on his record.

"I think you're worth saving," Lubet said during the hearing attended by Champion's parents in Orlando.

Lubet said Jones, who faced up to five years in prison after pleading no contest earlier this month to a third-degree felony of hazing causing injury or death, was a "relatively minor participant" in his band mate's beating.

Jones was the first of 12 former members of the historically black college's "Marching 100" band to face sentencing for felony hazing charges filed in Champion's death. The others have pleaded not guilty.

Champion, 26, died in a hazing ritual during a band trip to Orlando on November 19, 2011. His death was ruled a homicide as a result of a hemorrhagic shock caused by blunt force trauma during the hazing on a chartered bus, according to the medical examiner's report.

On Monday, prosecutor Nicole Pegues said two witnesses put Jones at the scene, and one of the witnesses said Jones gave Champion a bear hug.

Champion's mother held a framed picture of her son as she spoke directly to Jones during the hearing.

"How long can you obscure the truth and straddle the fence and keep up the delusion of innocence and live this lie?" Pam Champion asked him.

She told Jones that no matter what sentence the judge handed down, her son's death would "always be there haunting you."

"You and I both know you will never get away," she said. "It will always be with you."

Jones said he hoped the Champion family would find strength in God but didn't mention any specifics about his involvement in the incident.

"It went further than anyone could imagine," he said.

A status hearing for the other 11 defendants is set for March 1, according to prosecution spokeswoman Anna Akers. No trial dates have been scheduled.

The famed band in Tallahassee has been on suspension since Champion's death, and the university president and the band director have resigned.

The Champion family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the school. The university is seeking to get the suit dismissed, arguing in court papers that Robert Champion volunteered to be hazed in a bid to gain respect from fellow band members.

After researching the company, the products, and the leaders of ENIVA, Brisson soon recognized the potential of this quickly growing Minnesota primarily based company: the potential to become the next billion dollar home-based business opportunity.

As Brisson mentioned, ?I knew I was on to something when I first experimented with more info and felt immediate positive results within minutes. I have never had a nutritional supplement ever do that, specifically taking just one ounce. I knew this became it!?

Initial, Brisson discovered the shocking truth about the diet industry and the real facts about the pills and tablets relaxing in cupboards across The us. As stated in the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR), ?supplements within tablet or pill form are only 10% absorbed by the body.?

While reading with regards to ENIVA VIBE, Brisson fell upon the document that recommended VIBE in the PDR as keeping the highest Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) ranking of any tested dietary supplement on the market today.

Another technological research report found that VIBE is virtually 98% absorbable at the cell stage because of it?s angstrom sort of minerals, manufactured making use of ENIVA?s Solutomic? Technology.

DOD Seeks Mentors to Help Hire People with Disabilities

DOD Seeks Mentors to Help Hire People with Disabilities

By Terri Moon Cronk
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2012 ? The Defense Department on Oct. 26 will kick off its annual volunteer mentoring program to help hire individuals with disabilities as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Stephen M. King, DOD?s director of disability programs, said recently.

King said the volunteer program is in step with Executive Order 13548, ?Increasing Federal Employment of Individuals with Disabilities,? to highlight the importance of mentoring people with disabilities, and to improve the hiring and retention of people with disabilities within DOD.

"The mentor-mentee relationship develops over the course of seven months, and sometimes becomes so strong it extends outside of the program,? King said. ?The relationships have even encompassed advice in decision making related not only to mentees? professional lives, but their personal lives as well.?

DOD established the Electronic Mentoring Program ?- known as ?e-Mentoring? -- in 2002 to supplement the Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students and Recent Graduates with Disabilities, said Eileen Lainez, a spokeswoman with the Defense Press Office, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

The WRP connects the federal sector with highly motivated post-secondary students and recent grads with disabilities, Lainez said.

The WRP began in 1975 and the program was expanded to all federal agencies 20 years later. Nearly 6,000 positions since then have been filled by WRP participants.

E-Mentoring helps volunteers encourage participants to hone their career plans and consider DOD careers, King said.

E-Mentoring also offers weekly discussion topics, from interview techniques and goal setting to applying for federal jobs and business etiquette.

"Participants have said that DOD's Workforce Recruitment Program's e-Mentoring program gave them the confidence and knowledge needed when applying for full-time employment within the Department of Defense, and the federal government as a whole," King said.

Hiring people with disabilities also contributes to military readiness, Lainez said. For organizations to operate at their optimum, they must capitalize on what all employees bring to the workplace in knowledge, skills and abilities, she noted.

And people with disabilities develop problem-solving abilities that transfer to the workplace, Lainez said.

Last year, 86 recruiters from 40 federal agencies, including 33 DOD recruiters, interviewed students at 290 colleges and universities across the country. DOD hired 79 percent of the WRP participants and 30 percent were people with targeted or severe disabilities as recognized by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Lainez said.

Mentors comprise service members and civilians from DOD installations worldwide who volunteer their time to help develop qualified individuals with disabilities to enter the DOD workforce. Additionally, mentors bring leadership to the program by ?giving back,? she said.

?You would be surprised to know that sometimes mentors benefit from the program just as much as the mentees do,? King said.

?In working with their mentees, they are reminded of their own career goals, and become inspired to reassess their own life plans," he noted.

And those who are mentored become more prepared and integrate more easily into an organization after an experienced volunteer mentors them, Lainez added.

The varieties of opportunities in DOD career fields include business management, accounting, education, criminal justice, administration, and information technology.

Military and DOD civilian employees who are interested in becoming volunteer mentors can contact DOD?s e-Mentoring program coordinator at ability@osd.mil.

Motorola lists phones that won't get Jelly Bean, offers $100 credit to buy a phone that will

Back in September, Motorola Mobility announced that some of its handsets from 2011 and later wouldn't be making the jump to Jelly Bean. In an effort to smooth things over with exiled customers, the company pledged that it would offer a $100 rebate to those who trade up to a select Motorola smartphone. Today, the Google-owned Android maker has released a list detailing which phones qualify for this promotion. If you're among the many who purchased a Droid 3, Droid X2 and Photon 4G, it looks like an official update to Android 4.1 is out of the question. It should be noted that this offer doesn't affect your wireless contract's terms and conditions (read: ETF may still apply). However, if you're just aching to pick up a Motorola phone that released in 2012, then why not score a $100 credit for your troubles? Move past the break to see which other devices made didn't make the cut.

How Do Close Family Members Handle Disagreements About ...

Advice
Parental Quandary

Every Friday, we pose a question to the Motherlode community. The next week, we pull together the best responses. Got a quandary? E-mail KJ ?.

When I posted, around the time of the first presidential debate, that ?our debate-watching household will include reasonable adults who disagree (as reasonable adults truly can) on the desired outcome of the 2012 presidential election,? an astute reader wrote, asking if that meant that my husband and I ?disagreed about politics? and how, if that was true, we handle our disagreements (Watching the Presidential Debates ? With Children). For her, it?s a quandary ? she and her serious boyfriend have found themselves in political ?discussions? that veer off into arguments all too often in the past few months.

The answer is that my husband and I, both independent voters who have cast ballots on both sides of the aisle, do disagree this time around. But I was really referring to my father, who was visiting me during the debate, and who votes strictly down a party line. When we do disagree (and in the past four years that?s been nearly all the time), ?heated? truly is an understatement. We have shouted, we have hung up on one another, and we have, ultimately, agreed simply to not talk about politics, ever (except when we do). My dad is an avid follower not just of the policy side of the election (my primary interest) but of the ?horse race,? and I knew he wouldn?t agree to turn the television off for the sake of harmony.

Dad chose to watch the debate on a smaller television in my office, but when I unexpectedly found my 11-year-old snuggled in with him and watching avidly, I sat down too. We managed to maintain a truce that lasted not just for the debate, but for the visit, and it was a huge relief not to avoid the subject, but not to be stuck in conversations that ended in tears, either.

I?ll write more about how we handle the political reality of a house divided in an election season next week, but for now, I?d like to hear from you. Do you disagree with close family members on the desired outcome for Election 2012? If so, do you avoid political discussion, or welcome dynamic debate? Are your children aware of your differences, and do you find that, in order not to cast a family member in a bad light, you have to moderate how you talk to them about the issues ? for better, or for worse?
