Shocking Loss For Galaxy As They Head To San Jose

?Ahhh Playoffs. I have a love-hate relationship with this time of year, as many soccer fans do. Your team has to play two games against the same team to move on to the next round? and now LA Galaxy had the lovely chance to play against their CaliClasico rivals; San Jose.

Even as a fan, games between these two teams make you want to get in a boxing ring and punch something (especially if you are a Galaxy fan and you despise Lenhart) but these games are also entertaining. Both teams are out for blood, San Jose wants to ?prove? they are the best, and LA wants to just, well, beat San Jose.

LA Galaxy made two major changes to the lineup; Sean Franklin was back from injury, and Mike Magee started after scoring a crucial goal in last week?s knockout game. This game was bound to have it?s moments, and also shock the fans.

The first half was nothing short of ?. boring. Yes, boring. Don?t get me wrong, both teams had their share of pushing, David Beckham free kicks, Lenhart flopping, Keane yelling and everybody in a tizzy? Just a normal rivalry in the MLS. But neither team could really find their rhythm in the first 45 minutes, they both lacked ideas on how to push forward. Every time LA would get close to the goal a San Jose player would win the ball, or the SJ keeper made a save. LA had a few chances to get a goal, but came up unlucky. Both teams came up empty handed, ending the half 0-0. It seemed like this game was just not going to live up to the Clasico hype.

Starting off the second half LA knew they needed to get a couple goals under their belt before heading to San Jose next week. As much as LA tried, they just kept coming up empty handed. Even when San Jose ran out of subs and had to play a man down for 4 minutes, LA didn?t take a chance on goal. Even when it seemed LA was about to get a goal, the crossbar had to get in the way and block Robbie Keane?s shot. Then as time was running out San Jose did what they do best and scored during stoppage time. With less than a minute left of the 5 minutes added, San Jose scored off of a free kick.

If I may add, it was a weak free kick that should not have went in. Under the feet of Omar and through Saunders? gloves. Thus letting San Jose come away with a 1-0 win. If this didn?t make LA mad and ready for Wednesday, then nothing will.?LA goes into San Jose?s home turf down a goal. This makes Wednesday?s game an interesting one. LA need at least two goals to advance to the next round (this is unless San Jose scores, but let?s think positive!).

Next game will be Wednesday at 11 p.m. EST. It?s do or die for LA Galaxy and their MLS Cup dreams.
