Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of pure/applied mathematics or statistics,
starting with the Fall 2013 semester.
East Central University is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (a) teaching 12 hours per semester (summer teaching not guaranteed), including some lower-level mathematics courses (b) scholarly activity and (c) service, including student advisement and serving on committees. The Department seeks candidates holding a doctorate in pure/applied mathematics or statistics. ABD candidates may be considered. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a commitment to undergraduate education at a regional student-centered university, a desire to pursue research in their respective area and/or direct undergraduate research with students, and an ability to submit competitive external funding proposals. Documented evidence of excellent communication skills and effective teaching experience is also strongly desired.
