No. 6 Yale Defeats No. 19 Colby, No. 12 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. ? The No. 6 Yale men's squash team improved its record to 3-0 with victories Saturday over No. 19 Colby and No. 12 Williams. The Bulldogs began the day with a 9-0 sweep against Colby in which all Yale players won their matches in three games.

In the afternoon, Yale faced a greater challenge against a strong Williams team. One of the most exciting matches of the day was played at the No. 4 position, in which junior Eric Caine came from behind to defeat Alexander Greaves-Tunnell in four games (5-11,11-5,14-12,11-8). Freshman Pehlaaj Bajwa also fought for a win, needing all five games to earn his point against Williams's Ryan Eagan at the No. 7 spot (11-5,12-10,7-11,8-11,11-7). Junior Charlie Wyatt had an easier time, downing Michael Petrick at the No. 6 position in a quick three games (11-5,11-8,11-4).?

At the end of the day, it was senior leadership that made the difference: playing in the top two spots, seniors Kenneth Chan and Hywel Robinson both won their matches and helped secure a 5-4 victory for the Bulldogs.

Yale's two wins on the road will give the team confidence as it opens Ivy League play next weekend with matches at No. 4 Cornell and No. 9 Columbia.
